Wakini Kuria Award for African Literature Shortlist

The African Writers Development Trust has released the shortlist for the 2019 Wakini Kuria Award for African Literature (Children’s Literature).

The judges of this award are Namse Udosen (Nigeria), Nahida Esmail (Tanzania), and Isaac Kilibwa Kanyangi (Kenya).

The winner of the award will be announced during the 2019 African Writers Conference which is scheduled to hold at the Sarit Centre, Nairobi, Kenya, on the 28th of September.

The shortlisted entries are:

1. Beyond the Roaring Trees by Marjorie Moono Simuyuni (Zambia)
2. The Strong and The Weak by Njoroge Kaara (Kenya)
3. The life of a Sunflower by Christina H. L. (Tanzania)
4. Gabriellina Learns Living by Kelvin J. Shachile
5. Sakina’s Fortune by Nehemiah Omukhonya (Kenya)
